Our life in Christ begins with the renewing of our minds. As followers of Jesus, we are called to think and live in a way that is centered on God, shaped and guided by His Word. Scripture invites us to look to Jesus Himself as our perfect example, especially in His humility.
In this passage, we are brought face to face with a profound and holy mystery. Jesus Christ, who is one with the Father and fully possesses the nature of God, did not cling to His divine privileges. He did not cease to be God, nor did He diminish His deity. Instead, He willingly laid aside the outward display of His glory and took on the form of a servant.
Born of the Virgin Mary, Jesus became truly human while remaining fully God. He entered into our condition, yet without sin. This is a truth that stretches our understanding, but it is the very heart of the Gospel: fully God and fully man, He came near to save us.
In His humanity, Jesus humbled Himself even further. He walked in perfect obedience to the Father, choosing the path of suffering and surrender—even to death on a cross. This was not weakness, but the fullest expression of divine love and obedience.
Because of this, God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name above every name. This is the great and unshakable truth: one day, every knee will bow, in Heaven, on Earth, and under the Earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
This passage calls us not only to believe these truths, but to be shaped by them. We are invited to walk in the same humility, surrender, and obedience, trusting that the way of Christ is the way of life.
