Naturally Responding To Our Supernatural Redeemer – Psalm 100

Biblical thanksgiving is the recognition of God’s goodness, sovereignty, provision, and faithfulness. For believers, serving God is a privilege and a source of great joy. Rejoicing is a natural response for those who have experienced His forgiveness, received His saving grace, and entered into a personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. Our thanksgiving should never be limited to what God has done for us; ultimately, it must be grounded in who God is.

Our worship is specific the LORD Himself. We must never allow God’s blessings to become more important than God. Our service should be motivated by gratitude and love rather than obligation, personal recognition, or the approval of others. Although we may serve people through our daily responsibilities, our ultimate motivation is to serve the Lord. Whatever we do should be done heartily, as for the LORD and not merely for people. Colossians 3:23

Singing is an expression of praise and worship. Our singing and service should reflect hearts filled with gratitude. Worship is more than an activity; it is an expression of our recognition of God’s worth and our devotion to Him.

Biblical thanksgiving begins with understanding who God is and who we are in relationship to Him. God alone is sovereign. He is not subject to our preferences, expectations, or demands.

In its original setting, the gates would be at the Temple. Through Christ, we have direct access to the Father. Scripture teaches that believers collectively are God’s Temple, indwelt by the Holy Spirit. We thank Him for His provision, and we praise Him because He is our Provider. 1 Corinthians 3:10-17; Ephesians 2:13-18

People change, circumstances change, and generations come and go, but the Lord remains faithful. His goodness is everlasting, and His truth endures from generation to generation. We have both the privilege and responsibility of demonstrating and teaching the next generation about the goodness, character, and faithfulness of God. Our children and grandchildren need more than stories about what God has done; they need to see a generation of believers who faithfully trust, worship, and serve Him.
