Blueprints for Gospel Bridges – Matthew 9:1-13

As we begin, we have to recognize Jesus as the “Author and Finisher” of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) and Creator of the blueprints for Gospel bridges. Jesus Himself is the Good News! Remember Matthew is writing to a Jewish audience. He is Kingdom focused.

Jesus crossed over the Sea of Galilee to His “hometown” of Capernaum. He moved into His Divine location.

Jesus saw the faith of bridge building friends. They knew their broken friend needed a word from Jesus.

Jesus said to the broken man, your sins are forgiven. He spoke as a “Man” with power of God! God heals the willing broken.

Jesus saw the thoughts of other broken people. He knew their thoughts were evil.

Jesus said to the forgiven, broken man, “Get up, pick up your stretcher and go home.” For the first time, the man went home complete in Jesus.

Jesus saw a man named Matthew.

Jesus said “follow Me.”

Jesus sat with His disciples and unbeliever’s for a meal and fellowship. He received the outcast.

Jesus heard the words of the religious broken. He gave all of them the requirements to healing spiritual disease.

Jesus assigned homework.

Things we should remember:
• We are not Jesus.
• The Gospel Bridge is costly, but free.
• There is only One blueprint and bridge Builder, Jesus Christ.
• The bridge may have many designs but only one blueprint. John 14:6
• It is not your bridge!
