The Apostle Peter gave vital end-of-life wisdom as he was divinely directed by God. As false teachers began to infiltrate the early churches, Peter urged believers to grow and become strong in their faith so they could discern error and withstand the spread of apostasy. He emphasized the absolute reliability of the Word of God and the certain return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Knowing that his time on earth was short and that the church faced immediate danger, Peter sought to stir believers toward greater spiritual maturity. He spoke with clarity and conviction, proclaiming the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ—not as cleverly devised myths, but as truth confirmed by his own experience as a personal Disciple/Apostle of Christ during Jesus’ earthly ministry.
Peter was an eyewitness of the glorified Christ’s majesty, authority, and sovereignty. On that sacred mountain, in the presence of God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, Moses, Elijah, James, and John, Peter heard the very voice of God calling him to obedience. That divine encounter forever changed him. Matthew 17:1–9
Peter proclaimed that the Word of God is sure and trustworthy. The Church must grasp the truth that God’s Word is like a waterfall of truth, pouring the light of God into the spiritual darkness that surrounds it. This is true enlightenment.
Because the Scriptures are the inspired Word of God, we can conclude, as Peter did, that they are inerrant and authoritative. A correct view of God leads to a correct view of His Word. Since God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and completely perfect, His Word necessarily reflects those same attributes. The same passages that affirm the inspiration of Scripture also establish its inerrancy and authority. Without doubt, the Bible is exactly what it claims to be—the undeniable and authoritative Word of God given to humanity. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
From a human perspective, the Bible is composed of 66 books written by approximately 40 men from diverse backgrounds over a span of about 1,500 years. The writers of Scripture included prophets, priests, kings, tax collectors, fishermen, tentmakers, shepherds, physicians, and others. Yet despite its many human authors and long period of composition, the Bible does not contradict itself and contains no errors. The God of the Bible is GREAT! Psalm 145:3
