Truth 1: Joseph obeyed God’s command to take Mary as his wife and to name their son Jesus.
(v 18-23) The angel of the Lord clearly spoke to Joseph. Joseph understood the commands of God.
(v 24,25) Joseph did exactly as the angel of the Lord commanded.
Truth 2: Joseph obeyed God’s command to pack the family and move in the middle of the night.
(v 2:13) Joseph clearly heard from God’s messenger. He knew what to do.
( 14) Joseph did exactly what he was commanded to do.
Truth 3: God used Joseph’s obedience to fulfill prophecy. Jeremiah 31:15
(v 15) Messianic prophecy from Hosea 11:1 was fulfilled because of God’s faithfulness and Joseph’s willingness.
(v 16-23) Joseph was a righteous man. God uses his righteous people to fulfill His will. Isaiah 40:3
“And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.” –
Luke 2:40
