Truth 1: Jesus is God!
(v 1-3) Jesus has no beginning. He always is.
(v 4-5) Jesus is the True Light. He offers the world eternal life. John 4:24-30; 8:12, Hebrews 13:8
Truth 2: John was commissioned by God to be a witness for Jesus.
(v 6) God clearly ordained John’s life. Luke 1:15-17
(v 7-8) By the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit, John the Baptist knew his calling.
Truth 3: We have the right to become children of God.
(v 9-11) Jesus came to save His people from their sins. His people rejected Him. Matthew 1:21-23
(v 12-13) Jesus wants you to know your rights! You have the right to become a child of God – because Jesus paid your sin debt. What a gift! What a Savior.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me [a]is preferred before me, for He was before me.'” – John 1:14,15
