Luke 1
Truth #1 – God’s master plan was in His perfect planning. Galatians 4:4
(v13-17) God sent Gabriel to Zacharias the priest to announce the forerunner’s birth (John the Baptist).
(v26-38) God sent Gabriel to Mary (mother of Jesus) to announce the birth of the Messiah.
Truth #2 – God’s master plan was in His prepared people.
(v38) Mary was a righteous virgin and received the instructions given her by Gabriel.
(v25, 35-45) Zacharias and Elizabeth were righteous people before God and they received what He instructed.
Truth #3 – God’s master plan was in His prophetic promises.
(v57-66) John was born – Just as Gabriel had said.
(v67-80) Zacharias prophesied about the future; factual events that would take place in order for God’s people to be saved.
Gabriel – Daniel 8-9; Luke 1
-Angel in the presence of God.
-His name means God is great.
-Was sent specifically to at least three individuals in the Bible – Daniel, Zacharias and Mary.
Zacharias – Luke 1
-Priest who served before God
-Righteous before God
-Walked in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless
-Father of John the Baptist
Elizabeth – Luke 1
-From the daughters of Aaron
-Righteous before God
-Childless until the Holy Spirit moved on her
-Mother of John the Baptist
