With Thanksgiving season upon us, when we search the Scriptures, we find a repeated attitude of God’s people. We find an attitude of gratitude. We even read last week when Jesus fed the 5000 plus people, He broke bread and gave thanks. Jesus modeled His standard for us. God has spoken clearly in His Word.
Seven reminders about having a thankful heart:
1. We are all at some stage of life. We must thankfully trust God in the good and bad times. He makes our paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5,6
2. We are to give thanks in all circumstances. We are not necessarily supposed to give thanks for all circumstances. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
3. We can give thanks in all things if we know God is working all things for our good. – Romans 8:28
4. We know the Scriptures tell us it is good to give thanks to the LORD. – Psalm 92:1
5. We know thanksgiving to God is a demonstration of godly wisdom. – Ephesians 5:15-21
6. We understand from Scripture, giving thanks to God brings peace and protection for our hearts and minds. – Philippians 4:6,7
7. We know we are commanded in Scripture to live a life of thanksgiving! – Colossians 3:12-17
