Romans 4:1-8 – Old-Fashioned Faith
1. Abraham was justified by faith, not by works.
(v1,2) In verse 1, Paul asks a question of the Roman Church we need to ask of ourselves. What is the answer?
(v3) Paul quickly takes us to the “Authoritative Source” – the Scriptures!
Genesis 15:1-6
2. David was justified by grace, not by the Law.
(v4,5) It is God who justifies the ungodly. The ungodly cannot choose to be justified, you cannot earn grace, it is a gift from God.
(v6-8) Paul again takes us to the Scriptures and tells of God’s goodness to forgive King David’s sins. Psalms 32:1,2
Today, we as Christian Believers, can rest assured that we are sealed by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:3-14
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:8-10
