Persecution Has a Value for the Righteous – Matthew 5:1-12

Since mankind has been on the planet, there have been those who chose righteousness and likewise those who chose unrighteousness. The Holy Scriptures teach us God never changes. Today we see God’s keeping power throughout the Believer’s life.

Jesus’ promised His disciples – Blessings are for those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake. That is a here and now promise.

Jesus promised the persecuted righteous would inherit the kingdom of heaven. That is a hereafter promise.

Jesus said the blessing will come when the world criticizes you in abusive or angrily insulting manners for His name sake.

Jesus wants us to understand persecution had great spiritual value. We become more like Christ. (John 15:18-21)

Jesus gave His disciples the truth about coming persecution because He knew it would give them the opportunity to form Kingdom character. (James 1:2-4)

Jesus wants us to live the whole of life seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness. We must keep our eyes on the Author and Finisher of our faith.
(Matthew 6:33; Hebrews 12:1,2)

Paul would remind us that even through the persecution in this life, we can and we must press on. (2 Corinthians 11:24; Romans 10:1)

Jesus reminds all generations – a great reward awaits the faithful Christian in heaven.

Are you living righteously?

Is your life showing evidence you follow Christ, even in the times of persecution?

Are you praying for God to use you in great ways?
