Sent by God – Luke 1:26-38

The wonderful news of our Savior coming to earth is presented to us in His Holy Scriptures. We marvel at the price Jesus paid to come to earth to save us from our sins. We see God sending angels, people and even His Son. How grateful we must be.

God allows us to look into His specific plans. At a specific time and a specific place to a specific woman, God sends a specific angel with a specific message.
The angel Gabriel was sent by God to visit Mary. This was God’s method.

Gabriel greeted Mary and commanded her to rejoice.

Mary was greatly perplexed and wondered what kind of greeting this was.

Gabriel spoke again to Mary and commanded her not to be afraid, then he shares with her God’s Master Plan.
Gabriel shared:
1.You will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son.
2. You shall call His name Jesus.
3. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.
4. The Lord will give Him the throne of His father David.
5. He will reign over the house of Jacob (Israel) forever.
6. There will be no end to His kingdom.

Mary interrupted with a question. The question was complex to her but very simple to Gabriel. She asked how since she was a virgin.
Gabriel shared:
1. The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
2. The Holy One (pure and sinless One) will be called the Son of God.
3. Elizabeth your relative has conceived a son in her old age and is six months pregnant.
4. With God, nothing will be impossible.

Mary submitted to the word of God and agreed to her calling in life.
Gabriel departed.
