Truth 1: Mary knew that what was in her womb was from the Holy Spirit. She knew that giving birth to the Messiah, the Savior of God’s people.
(v18-20) Scripture affirms Mary was a virgin and knew the Child she was giving birth to, was from God.
(v21) With unconditional clarity, God told Joseph and Mary that Mary was giving birth to Jesus. Luke 1
Truth 2: Mary knew she was giving birth to God in the flesh.
(v22) Mary knew she was a vessel to fulfill prophecy.
(v23-35) Mary knew she was giving birth to Immanuel Isaiah 7:14
Truth 3: Mary knew she was giving birth to the Eternal King of His people.
(Luke 1:31-33) Mary knew she was to give birth to the Christ King.
(v 34-38) Mary knew she was giving birth to the Son of God.
-Mary was initially confused and asked for clarity.
-Mary conceded to Gabriel that she was willing to be obedient to the word of the Lord.
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
