Building a Spiritual Resume – Acts 10:24-48

Too many times in our lives we count God’s intervention in our lives as consequence. God is working daily to draw us to Himself. It is our opportunity and privilege to look and see where God is at work and then join Him. Today we will look at two men whose lives impacted many because they experienced God.

Cornelius: A man God called to Himself to be set apart. He could not seek God until God drew him. Why? John 6:44; John 6:65: 1 Corinthians 2:14

  1. Cornelius prepared for his Divine appointment.
  2. Cornelius called together his relatives and close friends. He brought many to meet Jesus.
  3. Cornelius was a very powerful man in society who wanted to honor God but erred in his understanding because he had not heard about salvation in Christ alone.
  4. Cornelius prepared for battle – spiritual battle.
  5. Cornelius humbled himself and shared his story. He wanted to hear from God!

Peter: A man who answered God’s call. Matthew 4:18-20 Peter was a man who was obedient to the mission of God, even though meant changing his cultural mind.

  1. Peter traveled to Caesarea with six other men from the First Baptist Church of Joppa. They had to answer the call of God.
  2. Peter traveled without doubt because the Holy Spirit said so. Acts 10:20
  3. Peter witnessed that Jesus was at the center of his story. He preached and testified about Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. Peter was an eyewitness.
  4. Peter invited Cornelius, his family, and friends to receive Jesus as their Savior.
  5. The Holy Spirit fell on everyone who heard the Gospel preached. Peter commanded them all to be baptized.

As Christians, we have an obligation to fulfill the commands of Jesus to take the Gospel to the Nations.
